Nigerian Money
In Nigeria we use Naira (₦) and Kobo (k). 100 kobo = 1 naira.
Coins: 50k, ₦1, ₦2 (rarely used today). Notes: ₦5, ₦10, ₦20, ₦50, ₦100, ₦200, ₦500, ₦1000.
Looking at Notes
- ₦10 note — brown/purple, shows people celebrating
- ₦50 note — has a barcode-like security strip
- ₦100 — has a raised security thread
- ₦200, ₦500, ₦1000 — the higher the number, the more valuable
Which Is Worth More?
Compare two notes: ₦100 vs ₦20. The note with the bigger number buys more. So ₦100 is worth more than ₦20.
Practice
Arrange these from smallest to largest value: ₦10, ₦100, ₦5, ₦50, ₦500. Check with a grown-up.
